Mangrove, Indonesia – CO2 100 KG

£12.00

Mangrove – Indonesia

CO2 Offset per tree: 100 KG
Average Lifetime:
50-140 years

A mangrove is a small tree that grows in coastal saline or brackish water.

Mangroves are adapted to live in harsh coastal conditions. They contain a complex salt filtration system and a complex root system to cope with saltwater immersion and wave action. They are adapted to the low-oxygen conditions of waterlogged mud, but are most likely to thrive in the upper half of the intertidal zone.

There is interest in mangrove restoration for several reasons. Mangroves support sustainable coastal and marine ecosystems. They can protect nearby areas from tsunamis and extreme weather events. Mangrove forests are also extremely effective at carbon sequestration and storage and can be used to combat climate change.

By financing one tree in this project, you will plant one of the following Mangrove trees (funds are equally split among species, in order to support biodiversity):

Avicennia marina; Bruguiera gymnorhiza; Nypa fruticans; Rhizophora; Sonneratia alba; Xylocarpus
granatum.

Please note that average lifetime and KG of CO2 offset are conservative estimations made by Evertreen based on external consultants, papers, articles and comparable platforms.
These trees are planted in Indonesia by our partner Eden Projects.
