Restoration in Brazil
See how Brazil’s REDD+ projects are preserving the Amazon, fighting climate change, and supporting local lives
In Brazil’s Amazon, deforestation continues to accelerate—driven by illegal logging, cattle ranching, and expanding land use. To counter this, a powerful, multi-site reforestation and forest protection effort is underway, combining certified REDD+ carbon offsetting projects across some of the most threatened areas in the country.

In the municipality of Apuí, Amazonas—one of Brazil’s top ten deforestation hotspots—the Evergreen REDD+ Project is preserving over 130,000 hectares of forest once at risk of being sold, cleared, and converted to pasture. Instead, project landowners have committed to halting deforestation plans and investing in long-term conservation, building on the success of nearby initiatives like the Fortaleza Ituxi and Unitor REDD+ projects.
In Paragominas, Pará, the CIKEL Brazilian Amazon REDD APD Project takes a complementary approach. It protects more than 27,000 hectares of forest through FSC®-certified sustainable management, combining conservation with low-impact logging, biodiversity monitoring, and community development. This initiative alone is projected to prevent over 9.4 million metric tons of CO₂ emissions in the next ten years.
Further east in Portel, Pará, the Rio Anapu-Pacajá REDD Project is safeguarding 165,707 hectares of forest in a region historically plagued by land conflict. The project is empowering local Riverine communities by supporting land tenure rights and providing clean cookstoves, creating lasting environmental and social impact.
Meanwhile, along Brazil’s southern deforestation frontier, a newly established REDD+ project is protecting 135,105 hectares of forest at a critical tipping point. This buffer zone helps halt the advance of deforestation, supporting biodiversity and contributing to climate regulation across the wider biome.
All projects are certified under leading international carbon standards, such as VERRA and the American Carbon Registry, ensuring transparency, accountability, and verified impact. Evertreen facilitates funding and tree planting within these certified frameworks, acting as a bridge between global supporters and high-integrity forest conservation.

Together, these projects form a unified response to one of the world’s most urgent environmental challenges—protecting the Amazon not just for today, but for generations to come.
