About this project
Support a greener future with Evertreen by protecting a tree in Cambodia. Each tree you fund through Evertreen contributes directly to the Keo Seima REDD+ Project, a Verra-certified avoided-deforestation project that safeguards 166,983 hectares of standing evergreen and dipterocarp forest from agricultural clearance, illegal logging, and economic land concessions.
The Keo Seima REDD+ Project, operated by the Wildlife Conservation Society in partnership with the Cambodian Ministry of Environment, sits inside the 292,690-hectare Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary in eastern Cambodia. The site is where the Annamite Mountains meet the lower Mekong dry forests, holding 84 globally threatened species including the world's largest known populations of the Critically Endangered black-shanked douc and the Endangered southern yellow-cheeked crested gibbon. The forest is also one of the very few places in the world where the Critically Endangered giant ibis still nests.
The project supports twenty Bunong and Khmer villages whose lives are bound to this forest. Seven Bunong communities have received Indigenous Community Land Titles, with eight more in process. In 2021 alone, the project distributed US$200,000 in carbon revenue back to participating villages through the Cash for Communities programme, supported 22,051 community members with improvements in well-being, and trained community nest guards who protected sixteen giant ibis nests detected that year.
By protecting a tree through Evertreen, you directly contribute to keeping standing forest standing. The Keo Seima REDD+ Project is verified by Aster Global Environmental Solutions against the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS Project 1650) and holds CCB Biodiversity Gold Level status, two of the most widely recognised certifications for forest conservation worldwide.
Join Evertreen in protecting Cambodia's forests. Fund your tree today and help keep this sanctuary intact for the black-shanked douc, the giant ibis, and the Bunong communities who call it home.
