Support a greener future with Evertreen by planting a tree in Arkansas. Each tree you fund through Evertreen contributes directly to the GreenTrees ACRE project, the first afforestation project ever approved by the American Carbon Registry and the largest verified reforestation carbon credit program in the United States. The project has replanted 136,650 acres of former farmland across the Mississippi Alluvial Valley with native bottomland hardwoods, rebuilding forest in a region that lost about 80 percent of its native canopy between the 1950s and the early 1980s.

The GreenTrees ACRE project, operated by GreenTrees, LLC, interplants fast-growing cottonwoods with long-lived oaks including Nuttall oak, Water oak, Willow oak, and Cherrybark oak, alongside Sweet pecan, Green ash, and Sweetgum. Cottonwoods shelter the slow-growing hardwoods from direct sun, producing habitat faster than planting hardwoods alone would allow. The restored forest provides habitat for the Louisiana black bear (federally Threatened from 1992 to 2016 and now recolonising Delta bottomland), the Cerulean Warbler, the Wood Stork, and the federally Endangered Pondberry shrub (Lindera melissifolia).

The project supports more than 500 Delta landowners across the Lower Mississippi Valley, each enrolled under a 40-year carbon agreement recorded in the official land records of the relevant state or county. About 46 percent of enrolled acres also carry permanent conservation easements through the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, monitored every year by federal aerial surveillance. The project sits in the corridor used by 40 percent of North America's waterfowl and 60 percent of all North American bird species during migration. Federal biologists report that within seven years a GreenTrees stand holds roughly twice the migratory birds of a comparable hardwood-only planting.

By planting a tree through Evertreen, you directly contribute to rebuilding the Mississippi Valley bottomland forest. The GreenTrees ACRE project is verified by Aster Global Environmental Solutions, Inc. against the American Carbon Registry standard (ACR Project 114), has been continuously verified since 2011 across twelve successful ex-post verification cycles, and has generated 7,792,791 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent in cumulative verified removals through 2022.

Join Evertreen in rebuilding the Delta forest. Fund your tree today and help the black bear, the Cerulean Warbler, and the Wood Stork find their way back to a forest the Mississippi Valley nearly lost.
